Along with the Rissoâs and bottlenose dolphins, spotted dolphins, also referred to as long-snouted dolphins, found a home at Marine Studios. Typically found in large numbers in deeper oceanic waters, they had, to date, been unable to thrive in any oceanarium. Under the skilled hands of the Marine Studios staff, spotted dolphins were not only displayed by 1940, but their beauty and grace was presented in daily exhibitions as early as 1951. The staff soon discovered that the spotted dolphins had the ability to jump much higher than their bottlenose cousins. The most famous of the spotted dolphins was Dottie, whose aerial feats thrilled crowds for 10 years, serving as an incredible testament to the expertise and skill of the Marine Studios team.
